Before I started blogging I used to do a regular newsletter that included information on green design. It is time to start the tradition again. Summer is here, although the fog outside my window seems to want to convince me otherwise. Despite the gray mood let me think of warm Summer days and how to make them a little more sustainable.
Cooking and eating outdoors is my favorite thing about warm weather, and there are more and more options to do that more sustainably. Most people prefer to use non-breakable tableware when entertaining outside, but there is no need for throw-away paper or plastic, other than perhaps napkins for a very messy barbecue. The inaugural Mobile Art Photography Awards Exhibition at ArtHaus, the award-winning SoMa gallery owned by James Bacchi and Annette Schutz, left an impression with me after getting a last minute look before the show moved on. Canadian photographer, filmmaker and digital artist Daniel Berman founded the international awards to promote the global phenomenon of art being created on mobile phones. He received more than 2200 submissions from 114 countries. The winning 25 entries are part of a traveling exhibition that opened at the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art and had its first gallery exhibit at ArtHaus. Continue reading
